Two more PCCs for San Francisco's F line! In the wee hours of the morning of October 9th, another PCC car arrived adorned in the colors of the San Diego Electric Railway. The car, now San Francisco Municipal Railway (Muni) 1078, joins three other ex-Newark cars on Muni property. This time, Melbourne car 496 did the honors towing the just arrived car into Geneva Car house for final checkout prior to test running. For you trolley modelers, here is a rear end view of the car before it left the trailer. On October 31st, car 1077, adorned in the colors of Birmingham Electric, arrived at Geneva Car House. In the original contract with Brookville, the company in Western Pennsylvania that refurbishes the cars, only the exterior of the cars were to be refurbished. After receiving 1080 (Los Angeles Transit Lines) without an interior upgrade, it was decided to add interior upgrade to the contract and it was returned to Brookville on October 31st aboard the same trailer that delivered 1077. A typically upgraded interior is shown in the next photograph. This photo happens to be the interior of the 1078:
Below are photos of some of the next cars to be delivered, 1076 (Washington D.C.), 1075 (Cleveland), and 1074 (Toronto) in their various states of readiness at Brookville this month:

The Great Train Expo Last month, we reported about the Great Train Expo in San Jose, California and how pleased the Trolleyville vendors were with the attendance, sales and general conduct of the show. The Times has learned a little more about the goals of the Great Train Expo as promoted by Competitive Intelligence Advertising (CIA) Inc. The Great Train Expo is owned and managed exclusively by CIA, Inc. CIA, Inc. has NO affiliation with GATS Limited, Hobbies Unlimited, The Great American Train Show, The Great Western and Atlantic Train Show, John Geoghegan or Moe Geoghegan. The Great Train Expo should NOT be confused with the Model Train Expo that ran in California in March 2003 and March 2004 at the Fairplex, in Pomona, CA and in January 2005 at the Queen Mary in Long Beach, CA. The Great Train Expo is conducted under the guidance of Dave Swanson, President of CIA, Inc. and his experienced staff. Dave has over 35 years experience promoting model train shows. He was the founder of the Great American Train Show and served as its Chief Executive Officer until it was sold to Elmo Geoghegan in November 2001. He has personally managed or promoted over 1000 successful model train events. He is a life-long model railroader and rail fan, as well as an experienced business manager with both fortune 50 companies and his own company. The company was founded in May 2005 to provide quality nationwide shows focusing on model and toy trains. CIA Inc and Dave Swanson believed that there was a strong market for quality model train shows despite the then deteriorating trend in model train shows. The Great Train Expo is designed to be the premiere marketplace oriented train show. The show has a nationwide mission to promote the fun of the model train hobby, encourage model railroading and toy train collecting. The shows feature top quality operating model railroads, professional train dealers, model train collectors, hands on exhibits, and workshop type demonstrations. They are all well advertised to the general public, something that the major model train manufacturers would be wise to embrace. All Great Train Expo shows open at 10:00 AM and close at 4:00 PM both Saturday and Sunday. This works well with both the public and the vendors, encouraging a wider choice for the visitor. Admission is $7.00 and all kids 12 and under are FREE. World's Greatest Hobby on Tour!
Indianapolis, Indiana • January 6 & 7, 2007 We mention these shows at this time as they are also managed by CIA, Inc and Dave Swanson. Trolleyville attended the 2005 show in Long Beach, CA and the 2006 show in Saint Paul, Minnesota and reported on both of them. Don't miss these if you live in or near these areas. Orange Empire Railway Museum celebrates 50th year! Founded in 1956, the Orange Empire Railway Museum celebrated its 50th year of operation with a catered dinner in Carhouse One as shown below. It seems like just yesterday that there was not a Carhouse One and there was no concrete floor and there were no paved carhouse lead tracks, so the location of this dinner marks the amount of progress at the museum.
_____________________________________________ A Trolleyville Apology Some time in late September, an unauthorized (piece of garbage) spammer created the email address, 201stocknews@trolleyville.com and proceeded to send messages to legitimate and illegitimate addresses. Trolleyville had nothing to do with this and offer our regrets to any readers annoyed by these messages. The number and frequency of the messages has been driving us crazy also! On October 6, the entire email for www.trolleyville.com was shut down. However, since our free society must permit such losers with their deviant and destructive behavior, we have had no choice but to send all mail@trolleyville.com through an intensive spam filter. We try to review this folder as frequently as possible but some legitimate mail may be lost. If you tried to contact us and did not receive an answer, please call us at 310-990-5422 and we will provide you with an alternate address.
