On Sunday, May 5, 2013, the Orange Empire Railway Museum (OERM) rolled out it's latest renovation, LATL Class B streetcar 525. With Project Manager, George Chapman at the controls, the car proudly was moved out of Car Barn 1 precisely at noon.

The car was paused in front of the barn while OERM Division Manager, Collections, Rod Fishburn, discussed the car restoration with those in attendance. LATL PCC 3100, also recently restored formed an appropriate backdrop for the occasion.

More about the 21st East Penn Traction Club Meet!
***

The best part about shows like the East Penn Traction Club Meet are the modular layouts. this is the place where a potential modeler can actually talk to the people who have done this and their handiwork is right there. We especially are fond of the ViMooreKo layout which is the combined product of Richard Vible, Chet Moore and Larry Loyko.

Southern California Traction Club Celebrates 18 years of modeling enjoyment!
***

The Southern California Traction Club, founded in 1995 by six unloving traction modelers, appeared at its 103rd public appearance in February 2013 and will officially be eighteen years old in October 2013. Every Memorial Day weekend the club holds picnic type gathering to celebrate another year of successful operation. What began as an outlet for trolley modelers has over the years made many contributions to the traction modeling hobby. The SCTC participated in the development of the first DCC decoder designed for traction, the Train Control Systems M4T. They recorded the sounds for the first commercially-produced traction DCC decoder, the Soundtraxx-Tsunami units for the Bowser R-T-R PCC. Recently, they did the test-evaluations of the new Bowser HO scale 4'10" wheelbase drive for the new soon-to-be-available New Orleans 900 series streetcar.

During the festivities, a resin-shelled, Bowser powered model of San Francisco 1008, equipped with a Train Control Systems KAT26 decoder with Keep Alive™ capability, ran flawlessly fom overhead wire for the entire event.

On May 3, 2013, the club was featured on a local, Channel 11 late night news show, hosted by Tony Valdez. Tony provided a DVD to the club and during the picnic all eyes were glued to a computer while the feature was played. You can see this clip on U-tube if you desire. The club will next be displaying at the Orange Empire Railway Museum on June 15-16. Check out their display at the museum's Town Hall.

At this annual picnic, a group photo was taken by one of the member's wives.

The numbers in parentheses indicate the year that the member joined the SCTC.

Southern California Traction Club member took a series of photographs of the ViMooreKo layout and we wanted to share them with you, We continue to be impressed with the overall simplicity of the layout while it captures many different neighborhood types.
1. The photographs are left to right starting with the "west" end with a northeast Philadelphia flavor:

2. Moving to the right to the next module with a distinct midwest feeling:

3.The next module, featuring a car barn, has a Pittsburgh, PA feeling to it.

4. The fourth module, below, transitions into suburban Pennsylvania.

5. The fifth module depicts a purely residential neighborhood of the 1950s with newer town homes being built which depict sections of Northeast Philadelphia.

6. The last module continues the residential flavor combined with a very needed reverse loop and lighthouse with the flavor of an Atlantic Ocean beach community such as Atlantic City, New Jersey.

You have now seen the entire ViMooreKo Layout as it was in May 2013. It is still developing, growing and improving.
