Ed Torpey is explaining the operation of Port-A-Pike II to three young boys. one of whom has their hands on the controller. This event took place at the Lions Model Railway show in Rockvllle, Maryland on November 15th & 16th 1997. Seventy-five new streetcar "motormen" were qualified at this show.

A Bowser HO scale model of a SEPTA PCC car, owned by Bob Dietrich, passes
Richard Vible's Nearside car at Long Siding on Port-A-Pike II. Under the viaduct is a
former Pacific Electric 950 "Venice" Car operated by the Kensington Valley Electric Railway.

Ed is completing the qualification of a young girl at the November 1997 Lions Model
Railroad Show. The girls left hand is on the controller handle while her right hand is on
the brake valve handle. This is the final few seconds of her qualification run.

A model of one of the 1500 "N earside" cars that dominated Philadelphia Streets from
1911 to about 1938 passes Alfonsi's Pizza Parlor on the upper level of Port-A-Pike II.
While the last of these cars was rctircd in 1954, one car, #6618, still soldiers on at a trolley
museum in Maine. The model is owned by Richard Vible and was imported by MTS
Imports, Inc. in the 1980's.

This was the set-up of Port-A-Pike II at the NMRA Mid-East Regional Convention in November 1997. The young man in the picture had just qualitied as a streetcar motorman.
