The Bowser #1250 HO Scale Trolley Roof Pole
The Bowser #1250 trolley roof pole has undergone a few changes during 2009 but the basic pole design familiar to most HO scale trolley modelers is still the same. Gone are the "taco shell" collector and the weak springs and replacing them is an NMRA S-5 Specification compliant contactor and stronger springs. The traditional threaded 3/32" shaft mount is still the same.

Shown at right is a #1250 pole with all the items provided prior to assembly:

1 - 1250 Trolley pole assembly with 3/32" shaft;
2 - 1251 Roof Insulator;
3 - Tension Spring;
4 - Fiber Washer;
5 - 2-56 Nut

6 - The electrical connector shown is not supplied.
Any ring
connector will suffice for this.

Shown at right is a #1250 pole installed in a piece of aluminum simulating the roof of a streetcar.

This pole is designed to replace dummy poles currently provided with the Bowser Streamlined PCC Trolley, 125210; the Brill Suburban Trolley, 125220; the Indiana Railroad (IRR) Lightweight Interurban 125230 and the Lehigh Valley Transit (LVT) Interurban, 125240. Depending on individual modeling skills, these poles can be adapted for other uses.

To install this pole, first install the hat shaped 1251 insulator in the roof of the Bowser Trolley from the top. Secure with adhesive. The use of ACC for this application is recommended), Insert the pole in the roof from the top of the car. Then from the inside, install, in order, the fiber washer, an appropriate electrical ring connector, the tension spring and the nut. Attach the power wire to your electrical connector and you are in business!
